The aim of the first International Conference on Adult Education in the Mediterranean, held in Agia Napa, Cyprus in May 2002, was to promote cooperation in adult education among Mediterranean, Balkan, and Western European nations. The conference was jointly organised by the Cypriot Association of Adult Education (CAEA), the Institute for International Cooperation of the German Adult Education Association (IIZ/DVV), and the European Association for the Education of Adults (EAEA).
